14 Christmas Village Display Ideas DIY

I’ve been a fan of Christmas villages since I was a kid, and I’ve been looking for Christmas village display ideas for years.

I even tried to start one of my own when I was a teenager, but I quickly realized that it was a lot of work and money to do it well.

I’ve been trying to find a way to start a village of my own for a few years now, and I think I’ve finally found a way to do it that won’t cost a ton of money.

I’ve been searching the internet for the best Christmas village display ideas, and I’ve found quite a few that are easy enough for beginners to make.

1. Start with a village display platform

The first step to creating a Christmas village display is to start with a platform to build on.

You can make a platform in any size you like, but I decided to go with 4×8 feet so I could fit a lot of houses and accessories on it.

You can purchase a piece of plywood and have it cut to size at the store, or you can use 2×4 foot pieces and attach them together.

I used a 2×4 foot piece and a 4×4 foot piece and attached them together using 2×4’s as braces on the underside.

I also used 2×4’s to create a frame around the edge of the platform.

This will keep everything from sliding off the sides, and it will also create a lip to attach the baseboard to later.

2. Add a mountain to your Christmas village display

If you want to add some height to your Christmas village display, add a mountain.

This is a great way to add dimension to your display and make it look more realistic.

You can use a foam mountain like the one shown here, or you can make your own using cardboard or papier-mâché.

You can even add a little fake snow to the top to make it look like a winter wonderland.

3. Use a mirror to add depth to your Christmas village display

This is a great idea if you have a small space to work with.

You can add depth to your Christmas village without taking up more space on your table by simply placing a large mirror on the table first.

You can also use a mirror as a base for your Christmas village display to create the look of a frozen pond or lake.

4. Add a stream to your Christmas village display

Add more color and texture to your Christmas village display with a river! It’s a great way to fill in any blank spaces.

You can make a river by cutting out and painting a piece of blue foam board. Or, you can use a blue table runner or fabric.

I used a blue table runner and a piece of white foam board to create my river.

5. Create a Christmas village display base from styrofoam boxes

This is a great idea if you want to create a multi-level Christmas village display but don’t want to spend a lot of money.

You can use styrofoam boxes to create a multi-level base for your Christmas village.

You can even use scraps of styrofoam to create different levels and hills in your display.

You can cover the styrofoam with a Christmas village display base or use a long piece of fabric to cover the entire table and the boxes.

This is a great way to create a snow-covered village scene.

I love the way this display has a large hill in the back and then a smaller hill in the front.

It creates a lot of visual interest and makes the display look more realistic.

6. Create a Christmas village display base from foam board

If you have a lot of buildings and want to create a larger display base, you can make a DIY Christmas village display base from foam board.

To create a larger display base, you can simply use a large piece of foam board, or you can use a few pieces of foam board and connect them together to create one large display base.

Foam board is a great material to use for a display base because it’s lightweight and easy to work with.

Plus, it’s easy to cut to the exact size you need.

7. Add a Christmas village display base to your coffee table

If you have a large coffee table, consider adding a Christmas village display base to it.

This will allow you to create a village display without taking up too much space on your table.

In this example, the Christmas village display base is made from a piece of plywood.

The plywood is then painted white and covered with a layer of fake snow. The village buildings are then arranged on top of the snow-covered base.

This is a great way to create a focal point in your living room that will also add a festive touch to your decor.

8. Use an artificial Christmas tree to create a Christmas village display

Creating a Christmas village display on a mantle or console table is a great idea.

But if you don’t have a mantle or table to spare, you can always use an artificial tree to create your display.

This Christmas village display is the perfect size for a small apartment.

I love the idea of using an artificial tree to create the perfect setting for your Christmas village.

You can use a white tree or a green tree, depending on the look you’re going for.

9. Use a ladder to create a Christmas village display

Ladders are a great way to add height and dimension to a Christmas village display.

You can also add shelves to the rungs of the ladder to add even more space for your buildings.

We love how this ladder village display from Home Road looks like it’s climbing up the wall! You can also add greenery, lights, and more to the ladder to create a winter wonderland scene.

10. Create a Christmas village display in a bookshelf

If you have a large bookshelf or hutch that you’re not sure how to decorate for Christmas, why not create a Christmas village display?

You can use your existing decor and just add in a few village houses, trees, and people. Or you can clear the shelves and create an entire village scene.

I love how this one is arranged with the tallest houses in the back and the shorter houses in the front. It gives the display a lot of depth and dimension.
