13 Neutral & Black Bedroom Styles To Inspire

If you’ve been following along on my Instagram, you’ve probably noticed the major home improvement project I’ve been working on over the past few months.

I’ve been doing a complete renovation on my bedroom and I’m so excited to finally share the finished product with you.

My bedroom has been a project that I’ve been wanting to tackle for years, but it was always pushed to the back burner due to time and budget constraints.

I’m sure many of you can relate to that! But now that I’ve been spending more time at home, I’ve been able to invest my time and money into making my home a place I truly love.

1. A black headboard and black decor

This bedroom from @lolo_webb is a great example of how you can use black accents to give a neutral room a pop of color. The black headboard and black decor in this room really stand out against the white shiplap walls.

There are so many different textures and patterns in this room, but the black and white color scheme keeps it from looking too busy.

2. A black accent wall

If you’re not ready to commit to painting the entire room black, try an accent wall first. This bedroom design by The Leslie Style features a black accent wall that anchors the bed and draws the eye upward, making the ceilings feel even taller.

The rest of the walls are painted a warm, creamy white, and the room is filled with natural textures like the jute rug, rattan pendant light, and wooden side tables. This helps soften the contrast of the black and white and creates a cozy, inviting space.

3. Black and white stripes

This bedroom by JDP Interiors is a lesson in how to use a black and white color scheme without making the space feel too stark. The focal point of the room is the black and white striped wall. The rest of the room is kept simple with white bedding and black accents.

I love the addition of the large print above the bed. The black frame ties into the black wall, and the white matting and light colored print add contrast to the dark wall.

4. Black and white bedding

If you love the idea of black and white but want to keep things simple, stick with solid black bedding and add in a few black and white patterned pillows.

This is a great way to add a little bit of interest to your bed without overwhelming the space. Choose a few pillows in different patterns and sizes to create a layered look.

5. Black and white artwork

Black and white artwork is a great way to add a focal point to your bedroom while also keeping the color palette simple.

This large, abstract piece of art in a simple black frame creates a high-contrast focal point in this bedroom. I also love how the black and white colors are echoed in the bedding, the pillow, and the throw blanket on the bench at the end of the bed.

If you want to keep things simple but not too simple, then adding a large piece of artwork to your bedroom is a great way to do that.

6. Black and white photographs

Add a personal touch to your bedroom by hanging black and white photographs of your favorite people and places.

It’s a great way to add a little bit of warmth and personality to what can be a colorless space.

Pro tip: If you don’t have a lot of natural light in your bedroom, consider adding a mirror or two to reflect light and make the space feel bigger.

7. Black and white curtains

Curtains can be a great way to add a pop of color to a neutral bedroom design, but in this case, black and white curtains are used to reinforce the black and white color palette in the room.

The black and white curtain panels in this bedroom match the color scheme of the room perfectly, and they add a bit of texture and pattern to the space.

I love how the curtains are hung high and wide to make the windows look larger and to give the room a more luxurious and dramatic look.

8. Black and white furniture

If you have a neutral bedroom but are looking to add some black in, try incorporating it into your furniture. This bedroom is a great example of how to do that! The bed frame, nightstands, and dresser are all black and create a bold contrast against the neutral walls.

I love the balance in this space. The black furniture is balanced out with the black light fixture, sconces, and throw pillows. It’s a great example of how to add in black without it feeling out of place.

9. Black and white decor

If you’re not a fan of black, but you still want to incorporate it into your bedroom, consider using black and white decor. This bedroom design by The House of Silver Lining uses a mix of black and white decor to create a bold and modern look.

The black and white wall art and throw pillows add a punch of contrast to the neutral color palette. The black and white decor is balanced with layers of cozy bedding and a plush area rug.

10. Black and white linens

If you’re just getting started with a neutral color palette, black and white linens are an easy way to ease into the look. You can always switch out your bedding seasonally, but black and white is a timeless look that works year round.

I love the way the black and white linens are the star of the show in this bedroom from The Identite Collective. White walls, a light wood bed frame, and a few decorative pillows finish off the look.

11. Black and white with a pop of color

If you love a black and white color scheme but are looking to add a little bit of color to your bedroom, this is a great way to do it. You can add a pop of color through your pillows, throw blankets, wall art, or even a rug.

The best part about this method is that you can easily change the color of your accent pieces if you ever want to switch things up.

12. Black and white with a metallic accent

If you’re looking to add a little bit of glam to your bedroom, consider incorporating a metallic accent. This black and white bedroom from Home Stories A to Z features a gold accent wall and a gold chandelier.

If you don’t want to go all out with your metallic accent, you can always add a few gold or brass picture frames to your walls.

13. Black and white with a bold accent color

If you’re a fan of the black and white look but want to add a little something extra to your bedroom, consider incorporating a bold accent color, like this bright blue.

The black and white color scheme creates a sophisticated foundation for the room, and the pop of blue adds a playful touch. You could also swap out the accent color with the seasons, or simply when you want to change things up.
